Drift Creek Company was founded in Waymart, Pennsylvania by James Ashby, an industry veteran with a passion to redefine what’s possible in portable buildings and outdoor living. The name, inspired by Drift Creek—a gathering place on a Colorado ranch where family, friends, and tradition meet—James envisioned a company built on trust, craftsmanship, and authentic relationships.
We’re new on the scene, but our foundation is solid and our ambitions are bold. As a web-based business with deep local roots, we’re growing throughout the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic, bringing a fresh approach to outdoor spaces. Meet James Ashby
James Ashby brings a lifetime of hands-on experience and a genuine passion for craftsmanship to the Drift Creek Company team. Raised on his grandfather’s farm and immersed in the family’s farm market from an early age, James developed a strong work ethic and a deep respect for quality—values that continue to guide his career. With a background spanning construction, project management, and sales, James excels at helping customers realize their vision for custom outdoor structures. His expertise includes the design, sales, and installation management of pavilions, custom poolhouse structures, garages, and other specialty outdoor buildings along the East Coast. James’s years in the construction industry, including roles with Grimm Construction and Pioneer Construction Company, have given him a keen eye for detail and a commitment to delivering exceptional results. A lifelong learner, James studied Electrical Construction Technology at Johnson College while still in high school and later graduated as an Electrical Line Worker from Northwest Lineman College in Florida. He holds certifications in crane operation (NCCCO), metering, and OSHA 10 Electrical Transmission & Distribution, ensuring every project meets the highest standards of safety and quality. James is also a licensed real estate professional in Pennsylvania, which gives him valuable insight into property trends and adds another layer of expertise to his work with clients. In addition, he works in IT, leveraging technology to streamline project management and deliver a modern, efficient customer experience. As a proud native of Northeast Pennsylvania, James values building lasting relationships with both customers and the local community. Outside of work, he enjoys golfing, hiking, hunting, and fishing—activities that reflect his appreciation for the outdoors and the region’s natural beauty. James is dedicated to providing a seamless, personalized experience for every Drift Creek Company client, partnering closely to ensure each project is tailored to their unique needs, and looks forward to helping you bring your next outdoor structure to life with expert guidance and authentic craftsmanship.
